Description
Did you know that slavery, the practice of owning persons as property, existed in North America? Were you aware that Canada was a safe haven to African American fugitive slaves and free persons? Or, that there was a secret network of individuals, collectively known as the Underground Railroad, who assisted these freedom seekers in their journey north? Join us on a two-day exploration of Underground Railroad sites in Southwestern Ontario.
Trip Dates: Saturday, November 2 – Sunday, November 3, 2019, the bus will leave Humber at approximately 7:00 am (time for each campus to be determined).
Cost: $175 each (2 persons sharing a room).
What is included: coach bus, hotel (including breakfast) and admission to four historical sites.
Hotel: Best Western Plus Waterfront Hotel Windsor.
Historical sites: The Black Mecca Museum (Chatham), Sandwich First Baptist Church (Windsor), Amherstburg Freedom Museum (Amherstburg) and the Buxton National Historic Site & Museum (North Buxton).
What you need to provide: spending money for meals and incidentals.
