Join Arts BC and our local hosts, The Pacific Rim Arts Society, for our Annual Provincial Conference—what is widely cited as our most valuable contribution to the development of community arts and culture leaders in BC.
Based in the spectacular West Coast communities of Ucluelet and Tofino, we start The Wave Forward: New Fundamentals of Arts and Culture Leadership with a networking reception at the stunning oceanfront Black Rock Resort on Thursday evening, April 27th in Ucluelet.
Conference programs begin on Friday, April 28th. Joined by our colleagues from the Creative Cities Network Canada, we’ll explore common themes in community cultural development. Streams of programming target both Capacity Building Fundamentals as well as Advanced Master Classes—with plenty of programming devoted to dreaming, doing, planning and celebrating.
Our sessions are scheduled with networking in mind. Experience the area's rich heritage—from the thriving First Nation's art scene to the Pacific Rim's renowned Surf Culture, sample world-class West Coast food and drink, walk the beaches, hike the trails and pamper your mind, body and spirit with a little early-morning yoga. Arts BC Membership is not required for registration for The Wave Forward however only members in good standing are eligible to vote at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday, April 29th.

What are my transportation options for getting to and from the events?
Shuttles between Conference Special Events and Conference Sites, while the conference is in session, are included in registration fees and do not need to be reserved in advance.
What are my transportation options to get to Ucluelet?
We’ve arranged a charter bus to take you from the Nanaimo ferry terminal to the conference and back at a special rate of $50 return. Limited seating. Tickets can be purchased here: waveforwardbus.eventbrite.ca
ARRIVAL BUS: Departs from the Departure Bay, Nanaimo Ferry Terminal on Thursday April 27th at 4:30 pm (meeting the arrival of the 3 PM, Thursday, April 27th, ferry from Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver to Departure Bay, Nanaimo). The charter bus will make 2 stops: at the Ucluelet Black Rock Resort and Best Western Tin Wis in Tofino.
RETURN BUS: Departs from the Best Western Tin Wis Resort, Tofino on Sunday, April 30th at 2:30 pm. The bus will arrive in time for the 7 PM ferry from Departure Bay, Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver.
Delegates staying at the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort can arrange for their luggage to be pre-boarded on the return bus at the Black Rock Resort prior to the Conference Closing Ceremony at the Tin Wis Resort in Tofino.
Is my conference registration fee transferrable?
Yes, please provide us with 5 days notice to have the registration transferred.
When is the Annual General Meeting?
