Description

The Wilderness:

Hailing from all corners of the globe, The Wilderness was formed in 2015 after a chance encounter between the original members at an open mic in Kingston. After just a single practice together, Jonas Lewis-Anthony, Karl Tombak, Sacha Lansky, Henry Lawrence, and Scott Goodwin began seeking out and playing shows in Kingston. Later that year they recorded their debut EP “Sunday Afternoon,” and that Fall hit the road for the first time, playing shows all over both the US and Canada.

After that tour, the newly 4-piece Wilderness returned to Kingston and began writing the music that would become their debut album. During an eventful year and a half of writing and recording, the band experienced a great number of ups and downs that included failed recording experiments, trouble with producers, a daring file heist, and another wild tour that brought the band out to the East Coast of Canada.

With no time to rest after finishing their recording in number of settings that ranged from pro studios to friend’s closets, The Wilderness embarked on their most ambitious tour yet. Once again a 5-piece with the addition of close friend Liam Neale, the band embarked on a month-long tour that took from coast-to-coast across the US, from Vermont to California and back again. It was during this time on the road the band released their debut album, “Saxton’s River.”

Following the completion of the tour, the band continued to play constantly around Southern Ontario, including a slot at the renowned Ottawa City-Folk Fest. In the time since then, The Wilderness has become known as one of the hardest working bands in Kingston, racking up well over 100 shows since the summer alone and gained a reputation

In 2018, the group once again grew with the addition of Nicolas Lennox on the Saxophone. In late February of this year the band ventured out on tour once again. This time their travels took them far into Northern Ontario, where they very closely avoided crisis multiple times to make it safely back to Kingston. Along the way they were joined by French filmmakers Celine Klein and Lucile Memin, who filmed the entire tour for a documentary to be released later this year.

The rest of 2018 looks to bring even more adventures for the band as they prep for another Summer of heavy touring, as they look to further expand their fanbase across the US and Canada.

Marah in the Mainsail:

Cinematic is the word most often used to describe Marah in the Mainsail's sound. Precise yet primitive jungle drums set the stage for the eclectic and powerful ensemble to sweep you away into their haunting world. Like oil and water, Durry's gravel voice alongside Mercedes's crystal clarity form a stirring, yet beautiful contrast. All being thrust forward by aggressive percussion, growling bass, and soaring brass. Their lyrics paint a thrilling picture of monsters and ghosts, murderers and thieves, love and guilt, and everything in between.

Since debuting their full length album "Thaumatrope" in 2015, the band has gained considerable notoriety in the Midwest, and continues to grow their exceptionally loyal fanbase across the country. They later signed with Last Triumph Records, and released Thaumatrope on 12” vinyl. Marah in the Mainsail continues to stand out from the pack, and bring their unique blend of musical influences to the alternative music scene.

Onward Etc.

Onward, etc. is a musical project put together by Rosco Wuestewald. Leaving the midwest at an early age, he started a journey traveling around the world which has developed into a project known as Onward, etc. The project connects musicians located throughout the country, enabling each tour and show be completely unique based on the different band members and the location of the stage. As with anything alive with electricity, permanent members have been picked up along the way. Wuestewald met violin player, KC Olsen, on an excursion in Hawaii in 2009. KC joined Rosco for a gig that evolved Onward, etc. into an unfaltering duo. Their live performances proved to be captivating as Wuestewald's voice carried out his heart wrenching lyrics accompanied by his punk rock roots and Olsen's stage jumping antics. Now in 2014 the band has picked up bassist Dave Edery (Dave Edery & The Scandaliers) hailing from the greats of Honolulu HI & a new percussionist Jon Via out of Columbus Ohio. The Onward, etc. project has been successful as the cyclone of musicians have acquired components and companions in nearly every state in the country. They have played with a dream-come-true list of bands featuring: Larry and His Flask, Skinny Lister, Lucero, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, The Goddamn Gallows, Reverend Horton Heat, Murder By Death and many more. They have been a part of Coachella, Bonnaroo, Floyd Fest, SummerFest, Vans Warped Tour, SE Alaskan State Fair, and venues both intimate and rowdy throughout the U.S. & Europe. This caught the eye of DC Jam Records who signed them in 2013. Onward, etc. lives by their name as they forge onward making a new album "Sonder On" with DC Jam Records and Derek Obrien (Social Distortion, D.O.B Sounds) They released the album in March 2014 and have been ripping up the road with it since. Successfully doing 3 US headlining tours and one European tour. As they march forcefully into the new year there are hints at a new release and lots and lots of touring to come!
