ISAAC MURDOCH

Isaac Murdoch's Ojibway name is Manzinapkinegego’anaabe/Bombgiizhik. He is fish clan from Serpent River. Murdoch grew up in the traditional setting of hunting, fishing, and trapping. Many of these years were spent learning to Elders/knowledge keepers in the northern regions of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Murdoch is a well-respected storyteller and a traditional knowledge keeper. He leads workshops and culture camps that focus on the transfer of knowledge to youth.His life is committed to the preservation of Anishinaabe cultural practices. Murdoch's expertise includes traditional Ojibway painting, imagery, symbolism, harvesting, medicine walks, ceremonial knowledge, culture camps, Anishinaabeg oral history, birch bark canoe making, and birch bark scrolls.

JANET ROGERS

Janet Rogers is a Mohawk/Tuscarora poet, spoken word and media artist, radio producer and podcast host. She recently moved back to her home territory of Six Nations after living on traditional Coast Salish territory for 25 years where she developed her writing and became the city Poet Laureate 2012-2015. Her sixth published book As Long As the Sun Shines (Bookland Press 2018) has been translated into Mohawk by Jeremy Green and will soon be available in French.
