To achieve sustainable development outcomes, organizations and institutions in the Global South must lead on and be the primary providers of research solutions to local problems. The Think Tank Initiative (TTI) has supported 43 organisations in 20 low and middle income countries over a period of ten years.

We are proud to share with you some of the main results of this program, including clear evidence for the importance of flexible and long-term funding for research organisations to enhance their sustainability and impact, and validation of the importance of individualized and peer support for enhancing the strength of these organisations.

The event on 17 July at IDRC (150 Kent Street, 8th floor) will present the results of this ambitious program, show video material that highlights what organisational strengthening meant for participating organisation, and promote a discussion on the implications of the program for efforts to support development research for impact.
