Thinking with Data
Event Information
About this event
IPAC Manitoba and the Data Science Program in Manitoba Central Services is offering a presentation to provide a foundation for thinking about, and with, data. We will discuss how to make sense of vast amounts of data through summaries, how to visualize and quantify the relationship between variables, and how to think about the most common data analysis problems. This presentation will cover core concepts and assumptions from statistics with approachable and non-technical language and examples. Rather than focusing on the nitty-gritty details of research methods and the mathematical formulas that underlie statistics, we will focus on providing a strong practical foundation for scientific thinking with data.
The presentation is designed to provide an intuitive overview of the big picture of research methods and statistics that can be used in thinking through problems in research as well as in everyday life.
This presentation is designed to give a fresh perspective on the fundamentals of research design and statistics. The presentation is aimed at those who have never taken research courses, or those who felt the broader picture of research methods was not clearly communicated.
About the Speaker:
