Introduction to Beading with Judy Anderson

Join Judy Anderson award winning artist currently featured in Glenbow's Eye of the Needle exhibition, and learn several different beading stitches (applique, running, two needle, lazy and a circle) and start a small beading of your own. All supplies included.

Judy Anderson is Cree from the Gordon First Nation, whose practice includes beadwork, installation, hand-made paper, painting, three-dimensional pieces, and collaborative projects. Her work is deeply personal with a focus on issues of spirituality, family, graffiti and popular representations of Aboriginal people. More recently, her works are created with the purpose of honouring the people in her life. She is a faculty member at the University of Calgary where she teaches both Studio and Indigenous Art History. Recent exhibitions include They told me to honour him… (Project Space, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) Bead Speak (Slate Fine Art Gallery), The Sole Project (The Art Gallery of Regina), and she is included in current and upcoming exhibitions at the Glenbow Museum and Contemporary Calgary.
