Event description

Description

Want to create sustainable impact in Calgary? Join Thrive’s annual gathering for inspiration and connection to the people and resources to move your idea forward. It's a community event for changemakers, neighbourhood champions and entrepreneurs working towards a resilient and inclusive local economy for all Calgarians.

We know everyone is busy so we rammed a ton of awesomeness into only 3 hours! Bill Ptacek (CEO of the Calgary Public Libary) will be talking about community hubs. We'll also have a fireside chat with two powerhouses - Alison Karim-McSwiney (ED of International Ave BRZ) and Cynthia Watson (CEO of Vivo) discussing the close relationship between placemaking and hyper-local economic development.

After overwhelming demand and popularity, we're also bringing back Learning to Action! So come prepared with an idea that is rooted in sustainable impact (social, environmental and financial) and get ready to take it to the next level by tapping into the wisdom of community.

If that isn't enough there will also be a marketplace (including free munchies and drinks!) filled by Thrive graduates showcasing what is happening and possible in Calgary, today. So don't be late, stay for the entire event, come with a dream and roll up your sleeves because we're going to put you to work (and by work we mean fun, inspirational, action-oriented collaboration with friends).

This event will also serve as the final learning series of 2018 for the Enough for All’s Community Hubs Collaborative. Check out the Community Hubs by Design Toolkit published in 2017 by the Collaborative. Community Hubs are a key activation strategy of Enough for All, Calgary's community-driven poverty reduction strategy.
