Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Aboriginal Health is committed to ensuring Indigenous Cultural Safety (ICS) is embedded in all levels of health care, including in health research. To further support you on this learning journey, we have teamed up with our partners across VCH to bring you a full day of presentations and discussions on the inclusion of Indigenous people in health research.
The day will feature a series of short presentations, a panel discussion, and networking opportunities for attendees. We will hear from both Indigenous researchers and participants and Allies working in the area of health research, and discussing Indigenous community engagement and the use of Indigenous methodologies.
We would also like to offer you the opportunity to participate in VCH’s in-person Foundational ICS Workshop. The Foundational ICS Training: Land Acknowledgement, History, and Self-reflection, provides an engaging and reflective journey exploring pre and post-contact histories of Indigenous peoples and non-Indigenous settlers in Canada; and how the effects of colonization are still present today. For this special event, we have adapted portions of the workshop to be more relevant for research teams.
