Toronto's Largest Walking Tour of Private Gardens
About this event
Through the Garden Gate, is Toronto’s largest tour of private gardens organized by the Toronto Botanical Garden, and presented by Cullen's Foods, the only brand of 100% Canadian-grown, certified organic beans. Made without additives – just great beans and water.
Garden-goers will have the opportunity to visit more than 15 residential gardens, of varying sizes and themes including pollinator gardens, native and naturalistic plantings, formal and cottage styles, as well as a park-like three-acre garden inspired by the book The Wild Garden by William Robinson.
The mid-Toronto neighbourhood of Wychwood, known for its Arts & Crafts architecture, artistic and entrepreneurial residents, and some pretty amazing gardeners!
The self-guided walking tour allows garden-lovers to discover beautiful private gardens in Wychwood at their own pace following a map that contains descriptions of the featured garden. Complimentary shuttle buses are available for participants to “hop on and hop off” along the route, which is also very walkable.
New features this year will include live music in one of the gardens and a scavenger hunt to enhance the fun and enjoyment of connecting with nature.
Garden seekers will also have a chance to ask questions and learn something too! Knowledgeable Toronto Master Gardeners will be stationed in each garden and will be happy to answer plant and garden design questions.
This is an outdoor event that can be enjoyed solo or with family and friends, strolling along the tree-lined streets, while skipping in and out of gardens. Come early to visit The Stop’s Farmers Market at Wychwood
