Event description

Description

Come learn the basics of the TIG welding process. Ever wanted to try your hand at creating beautiful, clean TIG welds? Ever wanted to weld exotic metals? Want to just make basic welds on your project look great? It's all possible with TIG!

The course covers the basics of operating a modern inverter type machine. Machine settings, tungsten grinding, filler metal selection and technique will all be covered. Practice your skills with a basic steel project and try out welding aluminum. This will open the door to a wide variety of welding projects that are not possible with other welding processes.

This course will be taught with the assumption that participants have previous welding experience. You should have done some welding with MIG or stick welding previously as TIG is the most difficult to learn of the electric arc processes. Taking the introduction to MIG welding would be considered a minimum requirement.

Please wear clothes appropriate for shop environment including a long sleeve cotton shirt or welding jacket, full-length pants, and close-toed shoes. Please also bring your own safety glasses and foam earplugs.
