Event description
The Human Plus and "What Makes Us Who We Are?" exhibits are open with pre-purchased timed entry. Country Christmas returns this December!

About this Event

Doon Heritage Village is closed for the season.

Country Christmas returns this December! Join us Sundays in December starting December 6 and continuing December 13 and 20. Pre-purchased timed entry tickets are required.

Appreciate the afternoon outside and experience a 1914 Christmas in Doon Heritage Village. Sip warm apple cider while taking a walk down the paths in Doon Heritage Village. Enjoy some sweet holiday treats and demonstrations in 3 of the village buildings.

Also, check out our galleries to warm up inside. Explore our Main Gallery "What Makes Us Who We Are?" and feature exhibit, "Human Plus: Real Lives + Real Engineering".

The Human Plus: Real Lives + Real Engineering exhibit is open until January 3, 2021 with reduced hours. Pre-purchased timed entry tickets are required.

Human Plus: Real Lives + Real Engineering is an engaging and interactive exhibit that shows how we all can use our ingenuity to build body replacements, develop brain-machine interfaces, and engineer unique assistive tools that push human potential beyond limits. When cutting edge science and engineering join forces to assist the human body, the possibilities for improving day-to-day lives are endless! Human Plus invites visitors to explore the dynamic, creative, user-focused engineering processes that help improve people’s lives.

Our main gallery exhibit is called "What Makes Us Who We Are?" and traces the 12,000 year human history of Waterloo Region, from Indigenous peoples, to community settlement at the start of the 1800s, to the manufacturing heydays of the 1900s, to the high tech sector boom of recent years.

Visitors will discover the reasons why people from around the world have immigrated to this region of Canada - whether they came for love, education, a better life, a new job or to find freedom.

Tickets are available for 90-minute bookings and capacity is limited to enable safety protocols that include physical distancing and cleaning. Reduced hours of operation will be Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. The last available admission begins at 2:30 p.m. Please note, Doon Heritage Village is closed for the season, with the exception of Country Christmas events on Sundays, December 6, 13, and 20.

Tickets must be purchased in advance.
