Manitoba Association for Computing Educators (ManACE) is pleased to announce our very first 'TIN Week in Manitoba'! 2014 marks the first time we've offered three great Technology Information Nights (TINs) in one week leading up to the 2014 BYTE Conference in Neepawa.
All three TIN Week in Manitoba events are free to attend and everyone is welcome to join us! Not only will you get to see three great presentations in Brandon, Winnipeg and/or Neepawa, but you'll also get pizza & salad, a chance to network with educators from several Manitoba school divisions and a chance to win some prizes!
We've got a fantastic line-up for TIN Week in Manitoba's Winnipeg stop:
Video Killed the PA Star
Facilitated by Nadia Nevieri
Nadia and her students at Lakewood Elementary School are taking their school-wide announcements to a whole new level. You'll discover how Nadia and her student production team produce their episodes of Lakewood Live, a video announcement series that's changed the way the Lakewood community shares ideas and information.
The Bucket List Project
Facilitated by Tara McLauchlan
What would your bucket list look like? This is the question that Tara has posed to her high school students over the last couple of years and she's been amazed by the goals that her students have set for themselves. Moreover, she's been inspired by their tales of knocking items off their bucket lists. Find out how Tara and her students weave a social thread through their innovative bucket list projects.
The Power of Student Made Social Networks
Facilitated by Matt Henderson
This session will describe how students can create their own social networks without selling their identities to Google or Facebook. Students in this context created social networks through Wordpress based on shared knowledge of Red River/Winnipeg for the purposes of acquiring feedback from peers and the public on their histories.
