From the innovator behind Alberta's first hemp house, the worlds first portable hempcrete home, and winner of 3 out of 4 awards at Canada's first microhouse competition, Dion Lefebvre & the 8th fire team is proud to present the summer 2019 hempcrete workshop series!

Whether you are a contractor, an eco-warrior, tiny home enthusiast, sovereign builder, or planning a home, this is the comprehensive hands-on course for you! It will cover everything that you will need to start your own building project with confidence.


The comprehensive event is broken down into three parts, "Hempcrete Essentials", "Passive & Tiny Home", "Plaster/ Finishing".

This event is Part 2 of the three part comprehensive series

In "Passive & Tiny Home" we will take a step back and focus on the principles of design, thermal mass, and how a proper home plan will add significant cost savings and comfort throughout your home's lifespan. We will explore natural building options such as straw-bale and rammed earth, and we will have a special focus on hempcrete tiny homes!! - Two things the 8th fire is best known for...

facilitated by 8th fire's Dion Lefebvre. With guest presentations by nation wide tiny home workshop host Kenton Zerbin, and builder/ enthusiast Kerri Timbers from YEG tiny house!

Kenton is a tiny house builder with his PDC (permaculture design certificate) who walks the walk. He lives in a tiny house where he is HAPPILY MARRIED!! Kenton heats is home for $120.00 a YEAR and loves to spread his knowledge in his own platforms throughout Canada and at Adaptive Humans.

Kerri in "knee deep" in her own tiny house build! She will talk about her experiences and challenges as she's gone through the design process.

The entire comprehensive event will be held at the Hempshire Demonstration Village - home of the "108M" & the "Micro Project" (Alberta's first hempcrete home). Continental breakfast, local/ organic lunches, and wholesome snacks will be served. You will enjoy Alberta hospitality in a hempcrete tiny house demonstration village, on the northern edge of Alberta's prairies & the southern tip of Canada's boreal forest. You can expect a nice balance of classroom education and hands on coaching, with great food, great company, and evenings socializing by the camp fire.
