Event description

Description

March 15, 2020 NOTE:

There is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now as people navigate through this period of heightened awareness stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. I love teaching and have been looking forward to the upcoming Compassion Cultivation Training, however given current guidelines around social distancing I will be rescheduling the program.

For more information on COVID-19 and best practices to ensure the health of yourself and the community, please click here. Also, during times like these, it’s natural to feel afraid, stressed, threatened, or anxious. I encourage you to find a place inside that feels calm and strong. This brief 5-minute meditation “Feeling as Safe as You Reasonably Can” prepared by resilience researcher Rick Hanson, PhD, may be a helpful resource.

Be well, stay safe, and thank you for your understanding.

--Daranne

Compassion Cultivation Training© (CCT™) is an 8-week program that brings together evidence-based techniques of mindfulness and the science of compassion to strengthen the practice of compassion in daily living. The exercises of CCT build mental habits that, over time, are demonstrated to open the heart and promote personal well-being, resilience, and meaningful human connections, even in challenging circumstances. CCT was developed at Stanford University by experts in contemplative studies, psychology, neuroscience, and adult education, and is delivered exclusively by Certified Teachers around the globe.

During the CCT program participants will engage in:

  • Mindfulness: Guided meditations and visualizations that reflect the course content develop loving-kindness, empathy, and compassion

  • Coursework: Class sessions included lecture, discussion, and experiential listenign and communication exercises with partners and small groups

  • Assignments: Real-world homework helps participants apply learning in daily life and opportunity for reflection on these experiences

Course Dates:

Tuesdays - 7:00 to 9:00 pm

Disclaimer
Compassion Cultivation Training courses are educational and are not meant to treat psychological disorders. Participation in the course requires regular attendance and adhering to basic classroom policies; participants who miss more than two classes or otherwise disrupt the learning environment may be asked to withdraw from the course without a refund.
