Toastmasters 'From Speaker to Trainer' Workshop

“From Speaker to Trainer” is a program designed by Toastmasters International to help you move from being a speaker to an effective trainer.

Trainers aim to transfer knowledge and skills through training and facilitation. In this program, you'll learn the five steps involved in preparing and presenting a training program using adult learning principles.

Outcomes:

• You'll learn the differences between public speaking and training.
• Gain fundamental training techniques.
• Participate in practical experiences of facilitation, and grow through discussions and exercises.
• Discover strengths you already have to design and deliver effective training.
• Develop the confidence to conduct an adult training workshop.

Facilitators:

• Roman Smolak, MA, DTM, is enthusiastic about creating and delivering informative presentations, keynote speeches and educational workshops.
• He has completed the Schulich Master Certificate in Adult Training and Development, and is a member of the Canadian Society for Training & Development. Roman has a Masters Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, majoring in Psychology from York University.
• Roman teaches the course "Influence and Persuasion for Business" in the Toronto District School Board Adult Continuing Education Program - Learn4Life.ca.
• Michelle Warren, DTM, is an instructor with George Brown College, a communication and leadership coach. She is passionate about helping individuals uncover their creativity and how to think differently. An experienced Toasmaster and educator, Michelle is an interactive and dynamic workshop leader.
• Andrew Mertens, DTM, is the current District 60 evaluation champion. A member of four clubs, he has an insatiable desire to discover and share the best communication principles and most effective practices. Andrew is an accomplished IT leader, with 20+ years of global information technology and project delivery. He has facilitated multi-million dollar implementation projects and their teams, using analytical and problem-solving skills and resolving difficult situations under adverse conditions. He most recently demonstrated these skills as co-chair of this year's successful District 60 Toastmasters Spring Conference.
• All three facilitators are members of the Speaking From Experience Advanced TM club (SFEAT).
