Toddler/Pre-School Sensory Exploration - Making Playdough

Activity: Making Playdough

We’ll be creating our very own playdough at home with simple home ingredients. Children will learn how to measure, math skills, and will learn about sensory exploration by playing with playdough.

Materials needed:

Bowl- medium

Mixing spoon, measuring cups and spoons

2 1/2 cups of flour

1/2 a cup of salt

3 tbsp. of cream of tartar

2 cups of boiling water

2 tbsp. of vegetable oil

Food colouring (optional)

About Our Sensory Exploration Sessions

Toddlers learn about the world around them by exploring with all of their senses. In this session we will introduce you and your little one to a new sensory activity each week. These activities will promote language development, improve fine motor muscles and improve problem solving skills. Sensory activities are also a great tool to use to promote self-regulation skills when your child is frustrated. Let’s get messy!
