Description

In this week long training you will be taught and have the opportunity to practice the essential skills to bring somatic sex education to groups of people in joyful, engaging and life changing ways.

In this training students will;

  • Learn skills to create safe enough containers for folks to do the work

  • Develop and practice Facilitator Feeler and Room Reading Skills

  • Learn and practice Nervous System Science for embodied group learning

  • Develop an individualized Activities Tool Box to take to your practice

  • Explore and experiment with Co-creation vs. Co-presentation

  • Learn to dance with group conflict and celebrate resistance

  • Build self-care and group care practices for sustainable facilitation for you and your co-facilitators.

  • Explore marketing, pricing, scholarship and accessibility

  • Leave the workshop with a written resource full of personalized workshop ideas and outlines

  • The class will culminate with a class led workshop for community members followed by a facilitated deep critique session


Your Teachers


JoJo DeRodrigo is a certified Sexological Bodyworker who attended the Institute of Advanced study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco, CA. JoJo has also been a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist for the past 10 years, he is a graduate of the Hypnosis Motivation Institute which is located in Los Angeles, CA. Through his training with Clinical Hypnotherapy, he became educated with the modalities of NLP, Past Life Regression Therapy, Handwriting Analysis and Guided Imagery Facilitation. JoJo has presented many workshops throughout the years. He combines Hypnosis, movement, touch and tantra in many of his workshops. For more information see metamorphic embodiment.


LIAM “CAPTAIN” SNOWDON dr. liam ‘captain’ snowdon lives uninvited on the territory of the Lekwungen and WSÁNEĆ peoples on Vancouver Island. Their background is in social justice, street outreach, counselling, harm reduction, somatic sex education and poetry with youth and adults. Some current incarnations of captain’s work are in the anti-violence-movement, working with folks who have done harm, co-teaching the Canada and US Sexological Bodywork/Somatic Sex Education trainings, and bringing somatic work wherever they go. They run the Sex Positive Art and Recreation Center. They are in love with the ocean. For more information see www.captainsnowdon.ca


Workshop will run from 10 am- 4pm each day.

One worktade available for each class involving premarketing, daily setup, food prep for teaching team, video making and testimonial collection.

5% of income generated from this training goes directly to indigenous folks doing land defense.

Accessibility of SPARC?

There are 10 brand new stairs into the house with a very solid handrail on the left. One bathroom on the main floor where the the workshop will be happening. Participants will have full use of the kitchen. A space for resting and laying down will be set up during the whole workshop. Backjacks, pillows, mats and straight back chairs will be available for sitting. No scented cleaning products are used to clean the space. On Golden Doodle lives in the house, but will not be at the house on the day of the workshop.


Captain can’t breath: All participants are asked to help make a scent-reduced space by refraining from wearing perfumes, colognes or other scented products (including essential oils). Please wash your clothes in an unscented detergent at least once before the workshop. Scents and chemicals have a disabling impact on one of the facilitators so if you come scented we will ask you to leave. ASL interpretation is not currently planned for this workshop but please get in touch if that is a need.


There will be 13 folks max in the workshop. All suggested activities in this workshop will have multiple variations to support folks introverts- extroverts, neurodiverse folks and ....
