Toolkit Tuesdays are mini workshops and presentations with prominent innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders designed to help you develop tools for building entrepreneurial thinking, social innovation and startups.

Product Design for Commercialization
This talk will offer an introduction to the profession of industrial design and the design process aimed at product launch and commercialization. Topics covered include industrial design, design thinking, use/user considerations, and the role of design iteration and prototypes.
Presented by Barry Wylant
Barry Wylant is currently the Interim Associate Dean Research + International for the Faculty of Environmental Design and a practicing industrial designer. His current research focuses on design thinking and developing technology ecosystems as a model of innovation, with a specific focus on aging-in-place. He has published articles in MIT’s Design Issues, the UK based Design Journal, and is a co-editor of the book Enabling Solutions for Sustainable Living: A Workshop. As an industrial designer, his work has allowed numerous Alberta based companies to commercialize their products internationally, including numerous medical devices, consumer electronics, and sporting goods/leisure products.
