About this event
Speaker: Daria Mattingly, University of Cambridge and Leverhulme Early Career Fellow
In her lecture, Dr. Mattingly will explore how the Holodomor offers a key to understanding the current war in Ukraine, both from a historical perspective and by revealing parallels in the objectives, methods and outcomes. She will discuss how further studies of the Holodomor are pertinent to explaining the war and its international implications in an increasingly interconnected world.
The Toronto Annual Ukrainian Famine Lecture was initiated in 1998 and is organized by HREC and co-sponsored by the Centre for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies, University of Toronto; the Canadian Foundation for Ukrainian Studies; the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Toronto; the Petro Jacyk Program for the Study of Ukraine, University of Toronto; and St. Vladimir Institute (Toronto).
