About this event
July's book is SickKids: The History of the Hospital for Sick Children by David Wright, a "compelling and accessible history of SickKids that anchors Toronto's children's hospital within the broader changes affecting Canadian society and medical practice over the last century." Learn about the hospital's pioneering role in pediatrics, pasteurization, the iron lung, and the treatment of blue babies, as well as its more scandalous history, from suspected serial killer nurses to whistleblowing researchers.
Meetings are held in the Discussion Room on the 3rd Floor of the Toronto Reference Library. Print and digital copies of this book are available to borrow at tpl.ca.
Program hosted by the Humanities and Social Sciences Department. For more info contact the organizer or call 416-393-7175.
