NOTICE OF PROGRAM REGISTRATION FEE INCREASE:
Thank you for your ongoing interest and support of the Toronto P.A.R.T.Y. Program. As an essential program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for more than 30 years, our program has been dedicated to providing students with tools and information about injury and injury prevention. Our program is effective because educators like you see the value in this learning opportunity!
We have made every effort over the past 30 years to minimize any costs for our program participants. However, over the past few years it has become clear that we are not able to continue to provide the same level of service without reflecting upon our current cost structure. Moving forward the registration fee for the 2017/2018 Toronto P.A.R.T.Y. Program will be $500.00 from the current $300.00. This fee only covers a portion of the full program total costs, but it still ensures that we can continue to deliver at the same level of excellence to more than 60 schools from across the GTA.
We truly appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you and your students in 2017/2018.

About P.A.R.T.Y. Program
To provide young people with information about injury (trauma) that will enable them to: recognize potential injury-producing situations, make prevention-oriented choices and adopt behaviours that minimize unneccesary risk. This program is a vital component of the growing community effort to reduce death and injury in alcohol and risk-related incidents.
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (am) and Toronto Rehab Institute's Lyndhurst Centre (pm)
Tuedays and Fridays, September to June
9:00 am - 2:30 pm
Students follow the course of injury from occurrence through transport, treatment, rehabilitation and community re-integration. They interact with a team of emergency response and healthcare professionals including paramedics, police officers, doctors and nurses. Students tour areas of the hospital related to trauma care.
Students are given information about:
- Basic anatomy, physiology and the mechanics of injury
- The effect of alcohol/drugs on decision making, judgment, concentration and co-ordination
- Mental health (including self-harm and suicide)
- The effect of injury on families, finances and future plans
The P.A.R.T.Y. team also includes individuals who have been injured - some still in acute care, others in rehabilitation and others who have returned home. They provide a personal perspective on the challenge of dealing with injury and putting one's life back on track
The program concludes with a challenge to participants to become individually and collectively committed to promoting behaviours that minimize the risk of injury
