Toronto Railway Museum Roundhouse Park Tours

Event description

They're finally here! After extensive development and testing, the Toronto Railway Museum staff will lead guests on a guided walking tour through Roundhouse Park and the various locomotives and train cars situated on the grounds. This tour will operate on a daily basis, so ensure that you book your tour for the correct time. You will have the opportunity to access the following pieces of our collection:

  • GO Car cab #104, one of GO Transit's original fleet cab cars from 1967
  • TH&B Caboose #70, a restored caboose built in 1913
  • Cape Race, a luxury solarium sleeper car originally built in 1929
  • Cabin D, an interlocking switching station built in 1894 in Toronto

Along with access to our collection, there will be interactive aspects of the tour and guests will learn how railways significantly facilitated and enhanced the development of Toronto into the city we know today.

This tour is approximately one hour long and will take guests on a walk through the park and into some of the passenger cars and buildings in our collection. As such, we must inform the attendees that there will be walking on uneven ground involved, as well as climbing ladders and stairs, so registrants will need to be prepared for this level of physical activity. We would also like to inform prospective attendees that there will be no refunds issued on purchases for the tour unless the event is cancelled by the event organizer.

This tour will be an excellent complement to a summer afternoon in Downtown Toronto. Come ready to take an insightful and inspired look into Toronto's railway past, courtesy of the staff at the Toronto Railway Museum, and the Toronto Railway Historical Association. We look forward to seeing you!
