Description

Welcome to the Canadian Light Source! We are offering free tours of the CLS for Canadian Semiconductor Science and Technology Conference (CSSTC) attendees. Please chose one of two options - Tuesday July 30 or Wednesday July 31 from 2:30-3:30. Each tour will accommodate a maximum of 30 guests.

Enabling fundamental, applied, and industrial research in materials

Synchrotron applications include:

  • Environment cell and in-situ measurement devices for researches in catalysts, solar cells and heavy metal speciation.
  • Ideal non-destructive method to measure new electronic devices with resolution down to a single atomic layer
  • Investigating the quantum materials and nanomaterials for future electronic devices.
  • Complete lithography processing capabilities not available elsewhere in Canada, including direct write laser beam lithography and high aspect-ratio molds.

Techniques available at CLS:

  • Hard X-ray scattering and resonant soft X-ray scattering
  • XAFS in-situ and ex-situ
  • High resolution Far-Infrared Spectroscopy (unique in North America)
  • Lithography: large 6” wide beam at the mask/substrate plane which can be tilted and rotated to allow for inclined structure patterning
  • Coherent Synchrotron Radiation for Photoacoustic Spectroscopy, allowing the terahertz region to be studied (world first)
  • ARPES
