Event description

Description

"Toward the Next Round of Constitutional Talks: Revising the Constitution Act, 1982"

Given that the current Canadian Constitution remains Eurocentric and sustains hierarchical divisions in our society, this year's 29th Annual McDonald Lecturer George Elliott Clarke (Canada's 7th Parliamentary Poet Laureate), will propose amendments - including a few tongue-in-cheek ideas—intended to prod us to continue striving to attain a model constitution for the nation we are becoming (whether we like it or not).

This event is free and open to the public.

A reception will follow in the Law Centre's CN Alumni Hall. RSVP here if you plan to attend the reception.

The McDonald Lecture is presented by the Centre for Constitutional Studies through an endowment to the University of Alberta's Faculty of Law in memory of Justice David C. McDonald.
