Event description

Description

Join Food Matters Manitoba, Councillor Lonnie Patterson, and Councillor Jan Chaboyer on January 24, 2018 to discuss a proposed Brandon Food Council. Food Matters Manitoba will share findings from stakeholder consultations on what a Brandon Food Council could look like, and how we can move forward towards creating one.

Food Councils are popping up all over Canada in an effort to provide a cooperative and collaborative system and vision for organizations and individuals interested in, or working with food. This holistic structure uses a ground-up approach that is conscious of how our food system impacts our community.

To date, Brandon has created a Brandon Food Charter and undertaken a Community Food Assessment which have set the groundwork for the creation of a Brandon Food Council. Through a partnership between Food Matters Manitoba, the Brandon Poverty Committee and the Global market, consultations on the possibility of a Brandon Food Council were held and we are ready to share what we’ve learned from these conversations!

This is a great time to come together as a community, from those who provide services to those who experience difficulties accessing healthy, nutritious food. Food has no borders, and individuals of all ages, genders and ancestry are welcome and invited to participate in this exciting conversation

Doors open at 5:00 pm, the event begins at 5:30 pm. Snacks and refreshments will be provided!
