Event description
Showcasing one of the research plots installed this year through the Train the Trainers and Raising the Next Generation Program

About this Event

BCFC developed the Guide to On-Farm Demonstration Research: How to Plan, Prepare and Conduct Your Own On-Farm Trials to provide ranchers with a tool to help them do their own research on the farm, measure what works best, and calculate whether it saves (or makes) money.

To help more producers be able to utilize the Guide, we partnered Thompson Rivers University to pilot a training program for both existing producers and students through the Sustainable Ranching Program.

Last fall, four producers (the “Trainers”) and TRU students (the “Next Generation”) took a one-day module to learn how to use the Guide, led by Dr. Catherine Tarasoff. They each designed and implemented a demonstration research project this summer.

You are invited to the first Field day, on Thursday, August 29th, in Beaver Valley, from 12:30 pm– 4:00pm !

The Field Day will be a FREE event to showcase one of the research plots installed this year. This will be a great opportunity to see a research plot in person, ask the producer questions, and see some preliminary results. There will also be speakers talking about Seed Selection in forage establishment, and a tour of a recent Silvopasture experiment on the property.
