Training: Water Act Approvals - Environmental Approvals System OneStop
Event Information
About this Event
On January 18, 2019, Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) launched the Water Act Approvals component of the Environmental Approvals System (EAS) OneStop. This marked a significant change from the conventional application process to a new, online system for the administration of Water Act approvals and notices. The EAS OneStop is a web-based, risk-based, data-driven system that provides clear direction about information required for applications, increases the consistency and transparency of the application process for applicants, and removes several internal steps resulting in reduced application processing times. The Water Act Approvals Project is the first phase in transforming our regulatory approach towards a one-window, integrated approvals process.
Who should attend training?
Any person or company planning to undertake an activity that may affect the land or vegetation under or around a water body, or may affect the location, flow, or quality of the water or aquatic environment, requires prior authorization and must submit an application or notice to Alberta Environment and Parks.
Which Water Act applications are part of this change?
The following applications are part of this change:
New approval applications
Approval amendment applications
Code of Practice notices
Note: Applications for water use licenses and temporary diversion licenses under the Water Act are not currently part of this change.
Why should I attend training?
Information sessions and dozens of online and in-person training sessions have already been held to assist applicants with this change. Additional training webinars are being offered to give you an overview of EAS OneStop, application instructions, demonstrations, and hands on experience in EAS OneStop with test applications.
