The Henry Girls are an Irish folk and roots music group from Inishowen, County Donegal. The band consists of three sisters: Karen, Lorna and Joleen McLaughlin. All three have studied music and are multi-instrumentalist, utilizing fiddles, ukulele, banjo, guitar, harp, mandolin, piano, and accordion. The Henry Girls often sing in harmony and their sound has been described as a mix of traditional Irish folk music and Americana. The Henry Girls opened the first Transatlantic Connections Conference in 2014, and were such a success that they have returned for every conference since then. They also performed on campus at Drew University in 2015. We are delighted that they are returning to Bundoran to expose many more visitors to their intoxicating blend of Irish and roots music.
The Transatlantic Connections Conference will open on Wednesday January 11th at 7pm, beginning a four-day program of panels, lectures, keynote talks and cultural events by guest speakers from home and abroad.Panels continue on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Lunchtime lectures with guest speakers take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with Keynote Lectures each of the evenings. There is also an Arts Program, including Arts Corner talks, Art Exhibitions and live music each evening.
