Event description

Description

Presented by Prism Services, VCH Trans Specialty Care, Trans Care BC, and the Vancouver Division of Family Practice

This 3-hour training session is for providers interested in learning more about providing primary care to transgender patients. In particular, we will focus on:

  • An overview of gender affirming medical care including trans-inclusive history taking, language, and options for medical transition, including hormones and surgery
  • The implications of medical transition on the ongoing primary care needs for transgender people
  • Case studies touching on the different societal barriers faced by many trans people and how these relate to and interact with their medical needs.

The goal of this session is to better equip you to support the transgender patients already in your practice and/or prepare you for taking on new patients. It will be an opportunity to meet with others currently working in transgender care and at the end of the session, information on receiving preceptorship and office staff training will be provided.

*This session is free of charge, but registration is required. Please cancel your registration if you are unable to attend as we have a wait list.

This session will include a light supper and a break.

**Please Note** The Paetzold Centre is a fragrance free space; please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne or other scented products. The space is wheelchair accessible. If you require ASL, or other accommodations, please email ryan.peters@vch.ca.
