Description

Ontario will be transitioning from the guiac fecal occult blood test (gFOBT) to the Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) for colorectal cancer screening in early 2019. The South West Regional Cancer Program is hosting educational dinner sessions this fall to:

  • Introduce the new test for colorectal cancer screening (Fecal Immunochemical Test - FIT)

  • Examine evidence to support FIT (instead of colonoscopy) for screening in persons at average risk for colorectal cancer

  • Discuss the expected outcomes of a positive FIT colonoscopy

  • Describe changes to the ColonCancerCheck program

  • Discuss primary care providers’ role in FIT implementation in Ontario

For your convenience, there are five educational dinner sessions to choose from. Each session will be hosted by Dr. Jan Owen (Primary Care Lead) and Dr. Brian Yan (Endoscopy Lead) in conjunction with your local Primary Care Alliance.
