Presenter: Stephanie Laliberte-Baril, Early Career Specialist, MD Financial Management

The idea behind investing is fairly simple: make your money work for you. And the sooner you begin, the greater the effect of compounding growth. Start by reviewing your goals and financial situation, then develop a financial plan and create a well-diversified portfolio to get you where you want to be.

This presentation will cover the essentials for starting out and begining to save for different purposes, types of investment vehicles available, accounts accessible to you, how investments are taxed, how to determine the approach to investing for each purpose, i.e home purchase, education, retirement, etc. Comparison of active versus passive investment management will also be discussed (mutual funds vs. ETFs).
