Description

Coping with a Trauma The American Psychological Association states “Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, rape, or natural disaster. Immediately after the event, shock and denial are typical. Longer-term reactions include unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationship and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea. While these feelings are normal, some people have difficulty moving on with their lives.” This workshop will talk about the different risk factors for individuals developing trauma responses, some coping strategies for individual who do and do not meet the criteria for PTSD and resources where individual can access support services.

Workshop Facilitators:

Natasha Saini is a certified clinical counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

Denise Wallis graduated in 2010 from the University of Toronto with her masters in Social Work.
