Description

Chippewas of the Thames First Nation will share its perspectives on the Duty to Consult and highlight how those obligations are founded in Treaty relationships.

A Treaty Panel discussion led by:

  • Chief Myeengun Henry
  • Rochelle Smith, A/Consultation Coordinator
  • Victoria Deleary, Treaty Research Coordinator

The Panel will view the form and function of the Duty to Consult within and beyond Canada’s Constitutional framework. Features of the presentation will be an introduction to Wiindmaagewin, Chippewa’s consultation protocol, and reflections on the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision in COTTFN v. Enbridge Pipelines Inc., et al.
