Event description
Sign up to volunteer with Nature Alberta to plant trees and willows to renaturalize a dugout on Golden Ranches Conservation Lands.

About this event

Sign up with your family group to volunteer to plant trees and willows to renaturalize the old ranchlands of Golden Ranches Conservation Lands. This volunteer event is hosted by Nature Alberta and guided by Project Forest.

Volunteers are considered “workers” by Alberta OHS; AHS has confirmed with Root for Trees that tree planting does not fall into the category of social gatherings. Volunteers will be expected to follow all safe working procedures (2m distancing, wearing masks, etc.). Groups will be limited to allow for safe working conditions.

Please bring your own masks and wear them anytime you are unable to stay socially distant from another family group. However, Nature Alberta will be doing our very best to keep all participants safe and ensuring that family groups can maintain social distance guidelines during orientation meeting and tree planting.

A porta potty will be onsite for use.

Individually wrapped snacks and juice boxes will be provided, but please bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated and meal, if needed during your 2 hour shift.

Dress appropriately with long pants and long sleeves. Bring bug spray and sunscreen. Sturdy footwear is a must. And bring your rain gear since the weather forecast is calling for rain.

If heavy rain is expected and thunder storms occur, the planting plan will be shifted to Sunday, June 6.

2 hours shifts include: 10 am - 12 pm and 1 pm to 3 pm.

Tree planting shovels will be santized in between shifts.

Location can be viewed on Google Maps here (https://goo.gl/maps/Bt8YiL9THsxDVipx5) and will be emailed to you prior to the event.

The gate on Township Road 515 will be opened, where you can drive in and park just inside the gate. You will see a porta potty just inside the gate. Please phone Steph at 587-335-5382 if you have any difficulty finding or accessing the property.

Thank you for volunteering to renaturalize important wildlife habitat! Your trees and willows planted will provide food for moose and nesting habitat for birds.

Please email info@naturealberta.ca if you have any questions or require further information. Please also email me if your preferred timeslot is full and I can let you know if we can fit you in and register your family group manually.
