Trial Garden Open House 2020

Landscape Ontario and the University of Guelph are proud to host morning and afternoon tours of this year's Trial Garden Open House, August 12-13, 2020 at Landscape Ontario.

This year, the U of G trial at Landscape Ontario will feature a a number of new additions to the program, including:

1. A large container trial has been installed to compare the performance the annuals in containers vs. the landscape.
2. A large multi-year perennial trial has been planted with more than 160 entries.
3. A pollinator research garden has also been planted to compare native pollinator activity on exotic and native plant species.
4. Display beds commemorating the 25th anniversary of the introduction of the Wave petunia.
5. Our usual landscape trial for various annuals and our ongoing shrub and hydrangea trials.

We are very happy to have been able to run this trial in the face of all of the Covid-19 restrictions and challenges this year. We hope that you will be able to join us and have a safe visit tour of these trials sometime in the coming week.

Our large, open, outdoor space allows ample room to comfortably browse this year's new plants while maintaining proper social distance. Limited to 100 visitors in each of the morning and afternoon sessions each day. Plenty of free parking, no touch registration and each visitor will receive sanitized flags to vote on their favourite new plants. Tours will be held as needed.

An open house is also being held at the Guelph trial garden site at the Guelph Turfgrass Institute, August 13-14. You must register for each site independently.
