We know that taking shears to your favourite fruit tree can be intimidating, however proper pruning is essential to maintaining tree health. Join local pruning expert Toby Hewton at Welland Orchard as he shares his knowledge at our interactive winter pruning workshop.

Toby will walk you through the basics of pruning and provide a live demonstration on one of the many fruit trees in the orchard. You’ll learn proper tool selection, how to use and care for these tools, and why, how and when to prune your trees and/or vines.

By the end of this workshop, our goal is for you to be confident enough to tackle pruning in your own backyard.

Come dressed for the elements as this workshop will be held outdoors at Welland Orchard.

Tobias Hewton lived and worked up-island on an organic, heritage apple orchard for 5 years and it is there that he learned the art of fruit tree pruning. He now lives in Victoria, but continues to work with fruit trees as a specialist pruner for LifeCycles. With a life-long interest in all things tree-related, he’s happy to share his knowledge of fruit tree pruning.
