Tropicana Community Services

Tropicana Community Services, a Toronto-based multi-service organization, provides all youth, newcomers, people of Black and Caribbean heritage and others in need with opportunities and alternatives that lead to success and positive life choices. Our mission is achieved through culturally appropriate programs such as counselling, child care, educational and employment services and youth development.

Tropicana Community Services Organization was founded in 1980 as a non-profit community organization to serve disadvantaged youth and their families, particularly those from the Caribbean. The first major project implemented was counselling services aimed at teenaged drop-outs in a high need area of Scarborough, Ontario. In 1984, Tropicana established formal links with the United Way of Greater Toronto, and was the first organization from the Black and Caribbean community to become a United Way member-agency.

Today, Tropicana is a growing service-delivery agency with programs designed to address issues affecting all youth, newcomers, members of the Caribbean and Black communities and others in need. Our current services are divided into the following six core program areas: life skills development, counselling, employment, education, day care, social/recreational.

Tropicana’s staff, with assistance from dedicated and committed volunteers, is able to assist thousands of adults, youth and children each year. We are proud of our accomplishments over the past 38 years and invite you to join us in fulfilling our goal of working together to help each other.
