Event description
For TVCC clients, 9 yrs & older, with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy residing in Elgin-Middlesex-Oxford, Grey-Bruce, and Huron-Perth counties .

About this event

Looking to get active and meet other TVCC kids in a supported and engaging virtual setting?

Join us for this in-person TRY IT opportunity for children/youth with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Participants will meet peers, try some martial arts, and explore social actitivities including LEGO. Each participant will have their own space to maintain physical distance.

Sensei Liam from Heroes Circle will instruct participants through traditional martial arts moves and teach us how to use breath breaks and power breathing. Heroes Circle teaches meditation, breathing, and movement techniques found in the martial arts to empower children beyond the pain and trauma of childhood disease. The program will be supported by Therapeutic Recreation and Social Work staff.

If you are unable to attend in person, please let us know and we will discuss how you may be able to attend virtually.

Parents are asked to remain in the building during the program. This group is intended for TVCC clients with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, who reside within Elgin-Middlesex-Oxford, Grey-Bruce, and Huron-Perth counties and are at least 9 years old.

Participants must be able to maintain physical distance from their peers and wear a mask at all times.

For more information or questions, please contact Sasha Chircoski, Therapeutic Recreation at sasha.chircoski@tvcc.on.ca or Rhonda Teichrob, Social Worker at rhonda.teichrob@tvcc.on.ca.
