Event description
Retreat and Conference for First Responder Partners

About this event

Nestled in the Rocky Mountain Foothills of Alberta, just outside of Water Valley, Camp Kindle offers 160 acres of rolling hills, forest, and waterways, along with all the modern amenities you need for the perfect camp experience. A weekend away from city life, Camp Kindle offers inspiring natural beauty and convenience -- from hearty meals, comfortable accommodations, well-equipped indoor and outdoor activity centers, including an Arts and Crafts Cabin outfitted to its rustic wooden rafters. Camp Kindle is modern, clean, beautifully maintained, and lovingly designed to offer the perfect location for any group, large and small. Truly a special place to call home for the weekend.

About the Retreat/Conference

The To Serve and Connect Retreat weekend is all about relief, relaxation, and pleasure. Reconnect with yourself, connect with your peers and connect the dots. The role of the first responder partner is distinctive, unchartered, and unpredictable. We are giving you permission to step away for a few days to grow, re-charge, learn, disconnect to re-connect, and fill your cup.

At The To Serve and Connect Retreat/Conference, you will be immersed with other individuals who navigate this unique lifestyle and given an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone -- challenge yourself by trying new situations - like a 100-foot swing, the high ropes, and take in a workshop or two.

Taking care of yourself radiates into other areas of your life. And this special group of people struggles with the same challenges just like you -- Feelings of Loneliness, assuming the Default Parent role, spearheading Household Tasks, and playing Mental Health Care Counsellor. This weekend, build your resilience, learn self-care and how to self-love, and grasp time management at the workshops provided which, in turn, foster fellowship, creativity, and a whole lotta fun!

As a Community, we are getting better at assisting our first responders through their conflicts, distress, and crisis. Sometimes members can lack a supportive environment at home when the family unit is falling behind in the proactive practice of creating a safe place for them to land, seek help, and feel supported.

$160.15 includes 2 nights of accommodation in a beautiful, heated, shared sleeping arrangement cabin.

All food and snacks.

All activities and workshops

Additional costs: We are looking at having beverages at the bonfire on Saturday evening. This will be an additional cost.

Concerns and Objections

As the support system for your first responder, you deserve respite. We know what you are thinking already:

-I don’t have my partner’s schedule yet! Don’t worry about the schedule. Take action today and you will make it happen out of necessity.

-I can’t leave for two nights!! YOU CAN leave for two nights and we can tell you from experience that you NEED to take 2 nights away. Start building your support system now.

-I don’t know anyone else that is going. Perfect, this is the place you get to make a whole bunch of new friends.

-What if I don’t want to do anything? You don’t have to do anything that is offered (please eat) but if you want to come and enjoy the scenery and read your book… then grab yourself a ticket. We can accommodate your needs for solitude.

Camp Kindle provides shared room accommodations. A registration form will be emailed to you a few days after securing your spot - please make sure that you indicate who you are attending with so that we can do our best to place you together for sleeping arrangements. Meals and snacks will be provided. In the same registration form as mentioned above, you will be able to tell us about allergies or preferences for meals.
