AWAKENING MIND ESSENCE IN THIS LIFE AND THE BARDO

With Tsoknyi Rinpoche: November 2 - 8, 2018

In our daily lives, every moment offers us the possibility to realize our naturally occurring mind nature. In this retreat, Tsoknyi Rinpoche will help us learn how to skillfully practice the teachings of Dzogchen to prepare for the bardo experience.

This is an advanced retreat. Qualifications are: a full open retreat with Tsoknyi Rinpoche or Mingyur Rinpoche where pointing out instructions were given or long-term students of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. Students who attended Rinpoche’s teaching at the Halifax Shambhala Center in 2012 are eligible to register for this advanced retreat.

Location: Annapolis Basin Conference Centre

Tsoknyi Rinpoche’s advanced dzogchen retreat will be held at the Annapolis Basin Conference Centre (ABCC) in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia. ABCC is an expansive property located on a prominence overlooking the beautiful Annapolis Basin. It’s here that Nova Scotia’s warm, down-home hospitality welcomes you.

ABCC is uniquely laid out in a way that it is perfect for our retreat. Tsoknyi Rinpoche will teach in the Desmond Piers Memorial Hall, a spacious hall with lots of natural lighting. The hall accommodates to 180 participants on meditation cushions and comfortable chairs. It’s a short walk from our accommodations in both the North and South Lodges and the James Horsfall Hall, a stately mansion, where we will dine.

The proximity of these three spaces works perfectly as a natural container for our silent retreat. Rota (yogi jobs) will be limited to cleaning the meditation hall. The ABCC staff will take care of the rest.

Please bring your own zafu and zabutons as we only have a limited number available. If you cannot, please note whether you require them on your checkout form. Comfortable chairs will be available in the meditation hall as well.

Rooms will be available for yoga, tai chi and qigong practice. Please bring your yoga mats and other items that are necessary for these practices.

All meals are included with your registration and will begin with a light snack during registration time (2pm-4pm). The first meal will be an evening dinner on November 2nd and the last meal provided will be breakfast on November 8th. Coffee and tea will be available throughout each day. Coffee, tea, muffins and scones will be available each morning before the 6am meditation practice session.

Paula, our head chef, trained at the Culinary Institute and has experience cooking for retreats. The menu will offer meat, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options; healthy fare that’s both tasty and nutritious.

The Annapolis Basin Conference Centre (ABCC) is luxurious compared to most retreat environments as it is a year-round event centre and accommodates guests who do not expect to have to tough it out during their stay. For additional info, please see the ABCC website: www.abcc.ca.
