TUC-Bow River Chapter: Elbow River Tree Wiring
Sat, 22 October 2016, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM MDT
Come join the Bow River Chapter of Trout Unlimited Canada as we work to protect vulnerable riparian trees from overharvesting by our local beavers. This is a joint project with the City of Calgary that will focus on the trees in Lindsay Park.
An estimated 200 resident beavers enjoy our parks and green spaces here in Calgary. As adults these semi-aquatic rodents can cut down 200 trees in a year. We will be placing metal wiring around tree trunks to prevent beaver harvesting. More on beaver management practices can be found here: http://www.calgary.ca/CSPS/Parks/Pages/Planning-and-Operations/Pest-Management/Beavers.aspx
