Event description

This is a peer support group facilitated by Laid Off Calgary. Themes and guest co-facilitators change weekly.
At a glance schedule:

June 27 - Getting Unstuck: Overcoming the Reactive To Stay Creative

We are all whole people, comprised of both strengths that help protect us, and strengths that move us forward. Sometimes, when we encounter a challenge or problem, such as losing a job, the forces that protect us - our Reactive tendencies - can unknowingly take over. Our reactive tendencies, while useful at times to survive, can also serve to keep us stuck where we are. Our reactive tendencies usually show up as behaviours that make us want to comply, protect or control. These forces can reduce our Creative gifts of relationship, achievement and courage. This session is about acknowledging our reactive tendencies, so that we can unlock and access our Creative strengths that will see us through tough times.

With Facilitators Bianca Sinclair & Clint White

Clint’s mission is: Inspiring people to live deliberately to realize their true potential.Clint’s philosophy recognizes that you have within you both the potential to realize your dreams, and the answers on how to achieve them. Positively re-frame your experience of transition!

Laid Off Calgary meetings provide connection, support and empowerment during these economically challenged times. The ask of you is that you register in advance (here in eventbrite) and note that in the Laid Off Calgary meetings we respect confidentiality and time of each other, we are non-judgemental, we listen, and we share from our own experiences.

** Please note: the meeting starts on the advertised time, if you may be running more than 5 minutes late or may not be able to attend, please contact me in advance so we can reschedule you for another meeting **

The group meeting is 90 minutes. These meetings are open to first-timers and regulars.

We start by establishing some ground rules for the discussion then the facilitators invite conversation. There is a psychoeducational component (e.g. positive thinking strategies, learning about the stress response, finding resilience, grief process) with a key takeaway each week. With peer support participants can learn from others facing similar issues, feel more connected to others, pick up interpersonal skills and internalize lessons.

The facilitator ensures those who wish to talk can have a chance to share, or simply listen and hold space for others.

On some meetings we have special guests/industry experts attend and co-faciliate with Bianca.

Group size is capped to 12 participants each meeting.
