Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Beware of The Deep and The Damned. This twisted Canadian quadruple-threat showcase is going to be a nail-biter. All four authors present their hauntingly tasty novels that are sure to give you goosebumps. Get ready for an evening full of suspense and horror with friends Nick Cutter and Andrew Pyper, along with first-time author Roz Nay and 2001 Giller Prize finalist Michael Redhill.

Little Heaven (Nick Cutter)

A trio of mismatched mercenaries is hired by a young woman for a deceptively simple task: check in on her nephew, who may have been taken against his will to a remote New Mexican backwoods settlement called Little Heaven. But shortly after they arrive, things begin to turn ominous. Something has cast its dark eye on Little Heaven and is now marshaling its powers…and it wants them all.

Our Little Secret (Roz Nay)

Angela is being held in a police interrogation room. Her ex’s wife has gone missing and Detective Novak is sure Angela knows something, despite her claim that she’s not involved. At Novak’s prodding, Angela tells a story going back 10 years, revealing a disconcerting love triangle and a dark, tangled web of betrayals. Is Angela a scorned ex-lover with criminal intent? Or a pawn in someone else’s revenge scheme?

The Only Child (Andrew Pyper)

Dr. Lily Dominick has seen her share of bizarre cases as a forensic psychiatrist working with some of New York’s most dangerous psychotic criminals. But Lily’s newest patient, Client 46874-A, insists that he is not human and believes that he was not born, but created over 200 years ago. When he escapes, Lily must embark on a chase that will threaten her career, her sanity and ultimately her life.

Bellevue Square (Michael Redhill)

Jean Mason has a doppelganger, apparently. It hangs out in Kensington Market, where it sometimes buys churros and shops for hats. Jean doesn’t rattle easy, but she certainly doesn’t want to get involved in anything dubious. Soon, though, Jean’s curiosity gets the better of her, and she’s sucked into a search for her double that involves visitors and inhabitants of the park. But when some of her enlistees start disappearing, it becomes apparent that her alleged double has a sinister agenda. Unless Jean stops her, she and everyone she cares about will face a fate stranger than death.
