Tuesday’s with OSSCO: A Canada 150 fête

This is a year of celebrations with Canada 150, Ontario 150 and OSSCO's 30th Anniversary.

Everyone is invited to kick-off the festivities at OSSCO's Canada 150 fête.

The party starts with an exciting presentation. Our special guest speaker will present How Far Have We Come, a look at how Toronto has changed over 150 years, highlighting the evolution of Toronto’s relationship to the rest of Ontario over that period. You will also have the opportunity to examine an artifact from Ontario's history and what is a party without cake.

About our guest speaker:

Ron StaggRonald Stagg teaches history at Ryerson University, with most of his teaching in Canadian history. During his career at Ryerson, he has also served as chair of the History Department on two occasions. Aside from teaching broad courses in Canadian history, he focusses on teaching about mass protest in Canada, and Toronto history. He also deals with the relationship of film and television to mass movements in various societies and has taught Ontario history. Among his publication are a joint authored/edited book of text and documents on the Upper Canadian rebellions of 1837, a book on the history of the St. Lawrence canal system, and two works dealing with the history of Ryerson University. He has written a number of articles on the rebellion of 1837, and is currently working on a book dealing with the Toronto and Home District uprising in that year.

About OSSCO
Who is Ontario Society of Senior Citizens' Organizations/La Société des Organisations des Citoyens Aînés de l’Ontario (OSSCO)?

We are a collaborative group of community minded individuals in our province who are committed to improving the quality of life for Ontario’s seniors. We do so by involving seniors through our various activities. Today, there are more than 140 organizations under OSSCO’s umbrella, representing 500,000 seniors in Ontario. In 2017, OSSCO celebrates 30 years of contributing to the quality of life for Ontario seniors.

We focus on 3 things – educational programming, research and public policy awareness. Through signature events and ongoing seniors educational programming, we keep the older adult community informed on issues of interest to an aging Ontario, and their voices heard by stakeholders.

There is no cost to attend this event - registration is required.
