Dr. Graham Dodd MD, CCFP(EM), MADEM  >Dr Dodd helped develop the first provincial ground-based Critical Care Transport (CCT) program for the BC Ambulance Service. The last few years has seen Graham pursue his interest in disaster and emergency management, particularly the interface between clinicians/hospitals and the emergency management profession. This interest began after directing a hospital evacuation (wildfire) in the rural community of Salmon Arm, BC (1998). That experience eventually led him to complete a Masters degree in Disaster and Emergency Management (MADEM) at Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC where he specifically focused upon how to better engage physicians and their hospitals in emergency management. His 2010 thesis received nomination for the Governor General of Canada's gold medal. Since 2009 he has served as both regional and provincial disaster medicine consultant in both public and private sectors, including the 2009 H1N1 pandemic.

He is currently a member of the Emergency Services Committee of Doctors of BC and the Clinical Expert Advisory Group of the BC Ministry of Health's Emergency Management Unit. He belongs to the World Association of Disaster and Emergency Medicine and the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians.

John Lavery is the Executive Director of Health Emergency Management BC, a program of the Provincial Health Services Authority that provides emergency management leadership and support to the BC Health Authorities and the Ministry of Health. He has been an emergency manager for over 20 years with the past 15 years working in the health system in Manitoba and BC. He’ll be talking about provincial disaster planning.

Judi Fairholm RN, BScN, MEd  >As Director Judi has spearheaded the growth of Canadian Red Cross Respect Education program from a grassroots initiative to a national/international award-winning program. With a menu of programs that promote respect and prevent violence, Judi has worked nationally and internationally with numerous governments, researchers, Indigenous communities, children and youth, organizations, NGO’s and Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies. She has incorporated violence prevention and psychosocial programs into disaster response and recovery. She has received numerous awards, including the International Florence Nightingale Award and the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee Medals. She has worked on projects in over 20 countries as educator, program developer, writer, consultant, disaster responder and program evaluator.
