Through the Lens of Travel: Featuring Olaf Malver & Kike Calvo
October 14, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, Fort Calgary Theatre
Join us with our special guests to enjoy spectacular presentations combining world travel, conservation, sustainability, and photography.
Olaf Malver will showcase his work with Natural Habitat Adventures & World Wildlife Fund, through his history in promoting sustainable tourism in developing countries, as well as his role in creating Nat Hab's Basecamp Greenland.
Kike Calvo will conclude the evening with his unique presentation style, taking us on a musical and visual journey, highlighting his work around the world with the theme of "evolution", combining his background of photography and photojournalism with culture, wildlife, environmental and real world matters. He will also highlight on his experiences working with National Geographic & Lindblad Expeditions (among others).

Full Day Photography Workshop with Kike Calvo
Saturday October 15, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Sheraton Eau Claire & Various Downtown Locations
An intimate and hands on workshop mixing classroom and photography in locations in the downtown area.
Kike will show us several ways how to tell a story through photography as a means of doing it. Essentially, this workshop, where there is no need for any previous experience. It is split up into teams. We will work as if we were writing a diary. All of us will learn from each other, its doesn’t matter the level. This is the opportunity for the participants to find the essence of how to tell a story. Through the workshop there will be constant references about Kike’s experiences which have been published in the Associated Press, The New York Times, National Geographic and other periodicals around the world.
- Maximum 18 students (waitlist available if full a Sunday workshop will be added)

- This workshop is open to all levels of photographers
- This workshop will take place both in and outdoors and will run rain or shine

About Kike Calvo
Kike Calvo is travelling from Colombia to Calgary exclusively for Vision Travel & The Camera Store, and we are thrilled to have him.
Kike is an award-winning photographer, journalist, author and National Geographic expert. He specializes in environmental and cultural documentaries and editorials.
He has been on assignment in more than 90 countries, working on stories ranging from belugas in the Arctic to traditional Hmong costumes in Laos. His work has been published in National Geographic, New York Times, Time, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, New York Magazine, Rolling Stone, and Vanity Fair, among others.
Kike teaches photography workshops and has been a guest lecturer at leading institutions like the School of Visual Arts and Yale University. He is a regular contributor to National Geographic blog Voices and has authored nine books.
Kike regularly joins Lindblad Expeditions as the National Geographic Photographer onboard, sharing his passion and extending his expertise to fellow guests.
About Olaf Malver
A passionate ecotourism activist, Olaf works to promote sustainable tourism in developing countries, in a quest to protect imperilled natural habitats.
Olaf founded Explorers' Corner, a boutique adventure travel company that was acquired by Natural Habitat Adventures, and Nat Hab is now the beneficiary of his peerless energy and expertise as Nat Hab's "CEO"—Chief Exploratory Officer. Olaf currently works with Nat Hab on new product development and was instrumental in the vision and creation of Base Camp Greenland. He is an active part of the operations team for Nat Hab's Greenland, Antarctica, and Galapagos hiking and kayaking adventures.
