Event description

Description

An event from the past, a troubling family member, a recurring nightmare – we all have things we’re scared to write about. For many of us, there’s also a sense that there’s a good piece of writing behind our fear — but how to access it? We sit down to write, but our minds wander, the dishes beckon, or we end up writing about something else entirely. During this workshop, poet and memoirist, Megan Frazer, will offer simple techniques and gentle prompts aimed at helping you find your way into the heart of that illusive story or poem. You’ll walk away with tools to get past initial barriers and harness the rich tensions, contradictions and nuances that go along with being afraid.

About the Instructor: Megan J. Frazer

Megan J. Frazer is a poet and memoirist who sees language as a cathartic conduit connecting her inner worries to the outside world. She completed her undergrad at UBC, majoirng in history and fed her love of writing by working at the university bookstore, sellin expensive pens she could not afford. She graduated from the Writer's Studio at SFU in 2018. Her writing has appeared in The Writers Caravan (Otter Press). She lives in Vancouver with her husband and two children, who she no longer posts about on Facebook.
