Event description

Description

It is well known that parents are the key supporter and provider of children’s sporting experiences. However, supporting children’s sporting involvement is not always easy; parents can face a range of challenges that may impact on their involvement. For example, within the emotionally charged youth sport environment it can be hard to know exactly what to say or how best to provide comfort or support to a child. Further, the logistical and financial demands associated with you sport can be difficult to manage.

This interactive workshop will provide some insights into some of the challenges parents may face when supporting children in sport, along with some key strategies for coping with these demands. A number of activities will be presented to help parents, coaches, and clubs to optimize parental involvement within youth sport contexts and help children and parents have a successful and enjoyable sporting experience.
