Description

This module focuses on changed behaviour as a communication. It explores causes of changed behaviour and carer responses.

It is suitable for all levels of staff working in the community to support people living with dementia in their own homes.

The workshop will be interactive and provide participants with an opportunity to problem-solve practice scenarios.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Consider the experience of dementia
  • Explain behavioural changes as a communication of unmet need
  • List possible causes of changed behaviour for people living with dementia
  • Use problem-solving approach when responding to changed behaviours
  • Discuss supporting the individual person to live well – maintaining physical, and psychological health of the individual to prevent behaviour changes
